INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PRODUCTS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE BIA NSW, BIA VICTORIA AND THE NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY OF BAKERY EMPLOYERS INC.
Unlabelled food - Customers are entitled to the following information:
- Your product specifications.
- Mandatory declaration.
- Warnings on allergins genetically modified foods or foods that have been irrdiated.
The following is a list of mandatory declarations and advisory statements that need to be available to your customer for all food sold in a retail or wholesale situation. For packaged goods you must comply fully with the new regulations. Among other things your labels must include an ingredients list and a nutritional analysis panel. For unpacked goods, made on your premises, the following mandatory information must be available for the customer to view (i.e declaration of substances that may cause allergies).
- Ingredient or ingredient of a compound ingredient.
- Food additive or component of a food additive processing aid or component of a processing aid
- Cereals containing gluten & their products. (Wheat, rye, barley, oats & spelt)
- Crustacea & their products
- Egg & egg products
- Fish & fish products
- Milk & milk products
- Nuts & sesame seeds & their products
- Peanuts & soybeans & their products
- Added Sulphites
- GM modified ingredients
- Offal in pies
- Laxative effect of certain additives.
- Irradiated ingredients (E.g. poppy seeds)
